We arrived at our hostel in Montreal which was a very interesting (questionable) place. The next day for some unknown reason the owners offered us a apartment complete with our own garden, kitchen, & bathroom. Beats a windowless cupboard.
It's the end of Summer in Montreal, and people are clearly making the most of this before the severe winter hits - the parks and streets are constantly busy. We're staying in the French quarter with all the Frenchies, tres bien.
Thursday was our friend Albane's Birthday. BON ANNIVERSAIRE!
To celebrate we drank some vin blancs and visited Vincent, Fabrice, Xuan and Adrian. As there was a quite large language barrier we immediately joined together in singing English songs. Xuan & Adrian on guitar, and Fabrice on rice box.

The wonderful Xuan "like the animal...a swan" cue hand movement.

We visited Old Montreal, it was refreshing to be somewhere remotely historical.

St Joseph Oratory. 278 steps. Some Catholics still visit the Oratory and climb the steps on their knees in order to gain divine pardon.
Sunset from the Oratory.
We leave Canada tomorrow and head back to New York. Bring on the 11 hour train journey.
